Lessons from The Leadership Line Podcast with Scott and Tammy

I recently tuned into an insightful episode of The Leadership Line podcast with Tammy Rogers and Scott Burgmeyer, where they explored the question: What do I make as a leader? Spoiler: it's not just about results—it's about the environment you create.

Both Tammy and Scott spoke about the power of allowing team members the space to experiment, learn, and even fail forward. That really hit home for me. As a current staff member, I’ve experienced firsthand what it’s like to work in an environment where I’m trusted to make decisions—and mistakes—without fear.

Their message reaffirmed something I’ve come to appreciate about our culture: great leaders make room for growth. They co-create an environment for risk-taking - And they make space for people to try, reflect, and improve. This is apparent in our debrief process where we always explore, what went well, what did not work AND what would you do differently? This type of thinking pushes our reflection of all of our work to go one step deeper. This allows everyone on our team to explore what went well and truly celebrate our wins while we also explore ways to evolve and improve.

Embracing the Yes, AND Mentality

Another standout theme from the episode was the importance of adopting a Yes, AND mindset. Tammy and Scott do a phenomenal job of modeling and teaching this approach—not just to us internally, but to the clients we serve.

Instead of shutting ideas down or clinging to "how it’s always been done," they lead with openness. They challenge assumptions, encourage innovation, and build on ideas. The Yes, AND mentality pushes us all to stay curious, collaborative, and forward-thinking.

It’s a small shift in language with a big impact. And it's a great reminder that leadership isn’t about having all the answers – it’s about co-creating a safe space for possibility.

Being part of a culture that embraces growth, experimentation, and optimism makes the journey that much more meaningful. I’m grateful to be learning under leaders who truly practice what they preach: helping others Become More every step of the way.
